Radio Essays
As a storyteller, I find radio essays to be the perfect medium for weaving together compelling narratives with music and soundscapes. I'm thrilled to share some of my favorite radio essays with you, which showcase some of my best writing and production work. These stories delve into the universal themes of friendship, loneliness, love, and loss, and I'm proud of the emotional resonance they evoke. I'm passionate about blending my two interests of writing and radio production, and I hope these radio essays will transport you to another world and resonate deeply within you.

4/20 Friends
04:27
In 2016 four high school freshmen, me included, make an ill-fated decision to celebrate April 20th the only way we know how. When the high proves too much and I'm left alone with a girl I can't stand, an unlikely friendship arises. This is the story of how I learned I can't handle weed, realized the importance of getting to know people before judging, and most importantly met my best friend.
This Side Darin

While young and living alone, my mother recorded tapes to make her life seem glamourous. Though they consist of her pretending to hangout with rock stars, they speak to the loneliness of a young single woman, a loneliness I relate to and reflect on in this essay.

Camp Goggles
08:33
When working at a summer camp your crush choices are limited and your feelings are intense. My first real love, or so my teenage brain thought, was an older camp counselor who saw me as what I was: a child. This story is soul crushing and embarrassing, but now I can laugh in-between cringing.
Farewell
06:22
My father has always been a rather reserved person, never expressing his emotions in the heightened and often-dramatic way the rest of my family does. Rather than outbursts or sobs, he prefers to channel his emotions into song writing. In this interview style essay my papa details how he started making music, used it to process great grief, and his journey through it thus far.
Featuring "Farewell", recorded by The Set, you can hear my father on vocals.
